Here I'm sharing ideas and recipes for a Wizard of Oz Birthday Party. Many of these would also fit a Wicked themed party as well!

For my middle daughter's 8th birthday, she wanted a Wizard of Oz theme. I've always wanted to do this theme, since the Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies.
As with all the parties I throw, I found a ton of inspiration on Pinterest. I pulled some of my favorite elements and ideas together for this party. I also like to repurpose supplies from other parties or decor I already have around the house.
Here, I will share how I created a Wizard of Oz dessert table and themed food for the party.
Decorations
I purchased this fabric backdrop tapestry. It looks different without daylight shining through it. Here is the tapestry at night to give you an idea of what it would look like without a window behind it.

I created a rainbow balloon banner to hang at the top of the tapestry. I love decorating with balloons because they bring a lot of color for a very affordable price. It's also a great way to hide the top of the backdrop.
For the balloons, I purchased 4 of each color of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. I got these from Party City and blew them up with our air compressor, then placed them in a balloon decorating strip in rainbow order. A few balloons popped, so I recommend getting more of each color than you actually need.
I used small clear Command clips and thin curling ribbon to attach the balloon strip to the ceiling and the curtain rods in this bay window.
This gold sequin tablecloth is the same brand as the rose gold one I used for the Nutcracker Party. I love the sparkle of the sequins!
The little Toto in a basket is from a Dorothy Halloween costume we had from several years before.
For the framed art, I made them with PowerPoint using movie quotes and printed them on cardstock.

The font I used is called "Wizards Magic" and available free for personal use.

I added some ruby slippers to this one and then placed a set of plastic glass slippers filled with red Sixlets in front.

For the food labels, I used the same "Wizards Magic" font and typed them out in PowerPoint, then printed them on white cardstock. I used my paper cutter to trim them and mounted them on a red cardstock background.
Then, I glued a blue and white gingham ribbon bow on the top of each card. I used this same ribbon for the stick of the Ruby Red Cake Pops.

Punch
We like to do a themed drink at birthday parties if we can. This Emerald City Punch was the perfect choice.

The label for the punch is the only one I did on (emerald) green glitter cardstock.
Snacks and Dessert Table
My mom made this fruit tray by arranging strawberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple, green grapes, blueberries and purple grapes in rainbow order for this "Over the Rainbow Fruit."

This is the arrangement for the dessert/snack table. I found most of these ideas on Pinterest and chose which ones made sense for us.

This bowl of "Scarecrow Hats" is filled with Original Bugles.

I shared these Ruby Red Cake Pops in a separate post. They are red velvet on the inside!

These "Tin Man Hats" are traditional Milk Chocolate Hershey's Kisses in silver foil wrapper.
Since this party was close to Valentine's Day, I found these Swedish Fish hearts to represent "Tin Man Hearts." You could use any heart-shaped candy for this.
The bowl of animal crackers is labeled "Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh, My!"
I used this green rock candy on sticks for the Wizard of Oz Birthday Cake, so I placed the remaining sticks in a glass jar.
I displayed these circular rainbow lollipops in this styrofoam block. I've used this block for several parties, including for these Sesame Street Cake Pops and Snow White Cake Pops.

This little figurine of a Lollipop Guild member is actually a McDonald's Happy Meal toy that someone gave me years ago. We joke that my dad looks like this character, so I hung on to it.
These Wizard of Oz themed cookies are Iced Vanilla Shortbread Cookies that I sprinkled with green, red or pink sanding sugar immediately after dipping them in the glaze to allow the sugar to stick. I used this castle and high heel shoe cookie cutters, as well as a Princess crown cookie cutter and heart cutter that I already owned.

I already had these "glass slipper" candy holders from this Cinderella Birthday Party, so I filled them with red Sixlets to represent Dorothy's ruby slippers.

Inspired by Glinda's wand, I decided to make a single Star Cookie Wand to display on the dessert table.

I will share more details of this in a separate post, but briefly I took two rolled shortbread cookies cut with a star cutter and placed a ¼-inch thick dowel rod in between the cookies, then pressed the dough down to form a single cookie with the rod in the center.
I baked the cookie like I normally would, allowed it to cool completely, then carefully glazed it and sprinkled it with sparkling white sanding sugar.
I tied a thin pink ribbon around the rod before displaying it in this clear glass vase filled with glass spherical vase filler.
Cake
This Wizard of Oz Birthday Cake is actually a Mocha Cheesecake decorated with Easy Vanilla Buttercream and cardstock silhouette cut outs.

When it was time to sing "Happy Birthday," I used this light up "8" candle holder. These are from Walmart, and I have them in a bunch of different numbers from previous birthdays. The light changes colors, but here I captured it on green lighting up the Emerald City, which was really cool.
