These Golden Snitch Brigadeiros are based on the Brazilian candies and rolled in edible gold glitter to look like Golden Snitches from the Harry Potter movies. They are great for a Harry Potter themed birthday party and are naturally gluten free.

My daughters like to watch old seasons of Holiday Baking Championship. Several times, a contestant has made brigadeiros, a chocolate candy from Brazil that resembles fudge or a chocolate truffle. My girls always think they look so good and had been asking me to make them for years.

When my middle daughter asked for a Harry Potter birthday, she was hoping to incorporate brigadeiros into the dessert table. While I typically would think to do a Cake Pop for these Golden Snitches, I decided to do brigadeiros instead to mix it up since we had just had the Wicked Cake Pops at my oldest daughter's birthday a couple of months prior.

To make these, I mixed up the brigadeiro candy, formed them into balls, then rolled them in my favorite edible gold glitter. The result was a shiny gold candy that looked even better than I expected!
I first discovered this glitter when I made the Caramel Mocha Ice Cream Cake and now use it anytime I made Gold Painted Macarons or other gold desserts.
After I mounted the chocolate candies on gold sticks, I added a set of gold glitter cardstock wings on top with a tiny dot of melted chocolate. I displayed them in a styrofoam block wrapped in white and metallic gold wrapping paper, which I also used for this Teddy Bear Dessert Table.
These were so cute, and everyone at the party loved the flavor! They are basically balls of fudge. They were a welcome change from the typical cake pops and take less time to make!

Supplies
- sweetened condensed milk
- unsweetened cocoa powder
- butter
- edible gold glitter
- 6-inch gold paper candy sticks
- chocolate chips
- gold glitter cardstock wings
- rectangular craft styrofoam block
Make the Chocolate Fudge
Combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder and butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Cook and stir until thickened, about 10 minutes, until it turns into a thick paste.

Transfer the mixture into a shallow bowl and allow it to cool.

Roll the Fudge in Gold
Using a 1-inch dough scoop or a spoon, scoop out the fudge and roll it into balls. Place them on a waxed paper lined baking sheet.

Pour some gold edible glitter into a bowl.

Roll each ball in your hands until very smooth.

Then, roll the ball into the glitter to completely coat. You can reform the candy into a ball by rolling it in your hands and this will help the glitter to create a shiny metallic surface.

Add Sticks
I purchased these 6-inch gold treat sticks from Walmart.

Insert a gold stick into each candy ball until about half way through.

Place the stick upright in a styrofoam block or cake pop display.

Add Wings
Fold the gold glitter cardstock wings in the center to create a v-shape.
Melt the chocolate chips at 50% power in the microwave in 30-second increments until just melted. Transfer the melted chocolate to a sandwich bag and push the chocolate into a bottom corner of the bag.

Cut a small opening in the corner. Add a dot of melted chocolate on top of the gold ball. Place a set of gold wings, white side facing down, on the dot of chocolate.

Hold the wings in place for about 30 seconds to allow the chocolate to begin to set so the wings stick.

Repeat with the remaining candies.
How to Display
There are a number of ways to display these candies on a dessert table. Any way you would display cake pops will work.
I've used this same styrofoam block for cake pops for many parties, including Sesame Street and Apple Cake Pops at a Snow White Party.

Most recently, I wrapped it in white and metallic gold wrapping paper to display Polar Bear Cake Pops and Teddy Bear Cake Pops on a Teddy Bear Dessert Table. The paper went well with the gold decor.

Storage
Store the candies upright in a styrofoam block or cake pop display in the refrigerator. Allow them to come to room temperature before serving so the candy softens.
Gluten Free Option
This recipe is naturally gluten free.
