Here are recipes and step-by-step tutorials for Back to School Treats that are perfect for afternoon snack on the First Day of School! Start the school year off right by celebrating with one of these special snacks.

Before my oldest daughter started Kindergarten, I learned from a friend in my mom's group that she made a School Bus Cake every year on the first day of school. I thought this was the best idea and a wonderful way to celebrate the new school year!
When my oldest daughter started Kindergarten, I made my first School Bus Cake. I continued to do this for the next several years, with the exception of one House Cake when my girls started the year virtually.

Now that my kids no longer ride the bus, I have had to pivot to other treats for the first day. This is a round up of the special snacks I've made for their first days. I hope to continue to adding to this post each year!

School Bus Cake
I made a School Bus Cake for 4 years. Each time, I changed a few things, but the basic concept was the same. I use a boxed cake mix to save time, but you can use any cake recipe you like.

Pencil Cake
This Pencil Cake is decorated with colored buttercream to look like a giant pencil. I used Funfetti cake, but any cake flavor will work well.

Apple Shaped Cupcakes
These Apple Shaped Cupcakes are so simple to put together with just a few ingredients and minimal decorating time.

Pencil and Ruler Wafer Cookie Cupcakes
These Pencil and Ruler Cupcakes are decorated with wafer cookies that look like pencils and rulers. You can serve the wafer cookies by themselves, or place them on top of a frosted cupcake like I did.

Chalkboard Brownies
These Chalkboard Brownies were a huge hit with my daughters and can be made in a few easy steps.

Apple Cake Pops
I originally made these Apple Cake Pops for a Snow White Birthday Party, but they would be the perfect Back to School treat! They would also be so cute as a teacher gift.

3D Apple Shaped Cake
I made this 3D Apple Shaped Cake for this last school year. I covered it in fondant and painted it with diluted food coloring gel.
