These Cherry Cordial Mice are perfect for a Nutcracker Birthday Party or holiday party. They are delicious and adorable!
I saw these adorable Cherry Cordial Mice on Pinterest when planning my daughter's Nutcracker themed birthday party. They are so fitting for this theme!
I used them on a platter on the dessert table and also around the Nutcracker cake, which was a Mocha Cheesecake.
These are so adorable but very easy to make. The key to them is using maraschino cherries with the stems on because the stems are the mice's tails.
Little sliced almonds serve as the ears.
They are not only cute, but also delicious!
Ingredients
- Maraschino cherries with the stems on (this is important!)
- Bittersweet, semi-sweet or milk chocolate
- Milk Chocolate Hershey Kisses
- Almond slices
Make the Chocolate Covered Cherries
Remove the stemmed cherries from the jar and allow them to dry by placing them on a paper towel lined baking sheet. A 10 ounce jar has about 27-30 cherries.
Melt the chocolate on the stove in the top of a double boiler or in the microwave at 50% power in 30-second intervals until just melted.
Carefully dip the cherries into the chocolate and lay them on a waxed paper lined tray or plate on their sides with the stems facing one side, just how you will want them to be when they are finished.
Placing the cherries this way will help them form a flat bottom so they don't roll as much on the serving platter.
Allow the chocolate to set and place them in the refrigerator until you're ready to assemble the mice.
Assemble the Mice
Unwrap enough Hershey Kisses so you have 1 for each chocolate covered cherry you made. You will need twice as many almond slices as cherries because each mouse will need 2 ears.
Melt about 1 ounces of chocolate in the microwave at 50% power in 30 seconds intervals until just melted.
Dip a Hershey Kiss in the chocolate, then adhere it to the chocolate covered cherry on the side opposite the stem. The Hershey Kiss will be the mouse's head.
Slide the almond slices in between the kiss and the cherry. You may need to dip it lightly in the chocolate if you need more to get it to stick.
Repeat with the remaining cherries.
Store them in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
