This Butterbeer Punch is a non-alcoholic ice-cream based butterscotch flavored punch that can be served at a Harry Potter Birthday Party.

For my daughter's Harry Potter Birthday Party, we knew the signature drink had to be based on butterbeer, the fictional butterscotch flavored drink from Harry Potter.
After reviewing a bunch of recipes for butterbeer, both hot and cold, we decided we wanted to do an ice cream punch version similar to our favorite Christmas Punch and Witches Brew Punch. I had done something similar for this Emerald City Punch at this Wizard of Oz Birthday Party.
Most recipes for butterbeer rely on cream soda, so we kept this super simple with just 3 ingredients, plus optional toppings.
Of course, all of the kids at the party enjoyed this punch, but the adults loved it as well.

Ingredients
- A&W Golden Cream Soda
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Butterscotch Sauce, store bought or homemade
Optional toppings:
- Whipped cream
- Toffee bits
- Gold sugar sprinkles
It's important to get the golden cream soda and not the pink cream soda. You want the color to look like butterscotch and beer.
Make the Punch
Scoop some vanilla ice cream into a punch bowl. Pour the cream soda over the ice cream and stir to melt some of the ice cream into the soda. Stir in the butterscotch sauce.
Although I had made Homemade Butterscotch Sauce for the Butterbeer Cake, Sorting Hat Butterbeer Macarons and Golden Snitch Macarons, I had run out of it. To save time, I used a jar of store bought butterscotch ice cream topping.

Add more scoops of vanilla ice cream to the top of the punch so that you can serve a scoop to each guest when serving.
Serving Suggestions
Use a ladle to transfer punch into a cup. Make sure to get a scoop of the ice cream.
The toppings are optional, but you can add whipped cream with some extra butterscotch sauce drizzled on top, some toffee bits, and some gold sugar sprinkles.
Gluten Free Option
This punch is naturally gluten free.
