These Wizard Wand Chocolate Pretzels are a salty and sweet treat for a dessert table at a Harry Potter Birthday Party.

For my daughter's Harry Potter Birthday Party, we consulted Pinterest for ideas for the dessert table. My kids love chocolate covered pretzels, so these were an immediate must.

Rods are one of the easiest shapes to make into chocolate covered pretzels because they come with a built-in handle. I chose to use milk chocolate for these, but any type of chocolate or colored melting wafers will work.
In fact, I made a tiger themed version of these for a Daniel Tiger Birthday Party and "Tigger Tailz" for a Winnie the Pooh Birthday Party.

Ingredients
- pretzel rods
- Chocolate Fountain milk chocolate bits, chocolate melting wafers or chocolate chips

I used Chocolate Fountain Milk Chocolate for these, but you can use any kind of chocolate chips. I think Ghirardelli brand chocolate chips melt very well. They come in milk, semi-sweet, or bittersweet chocolate.
Melt the Chocolate
If you are using chocolate fountain chocolate or melting wafers, follow the directions on the package for melting the chocolate.
I use a tall drinking glass to melt the chocolate so that less chocolate is needed to achieve the depth needed to dip the rods. Ideally, the narrowest, tall glass you can find is best.
Place the chocolate in the glass and melt at 50% power in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is just melted.

Dip the Pretzel Rods
Line a cookie sheet with a piece of wax paper or parchment paper.
Dip a pretzel rod straight down into the chocolate. You can turn the glass on an angle and rotate the pretzel to get the chocolate higher up on the pretzel. Lift the stick out of the chocolate and allow the excess to run off.
Lay the pretzel rod down on the wax paper. Allow some of the chocolate to run off and then move the rod to another location on the paper to prevent pooling of the chocolate around the bottom of the rod.
Repeat with all of the rods. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or chill in the refrigerator to set.
Add the Chocolate Drizzle
After the chocolate on the rods has set, it's time to add the drizzle.
Place a sandwich bag or disposable piping bag into a short drinking glass and fold the top over the edges of the glass.
Reheat the chocolate in the tall glass at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until just melted. Transfer the melted chocolate to the sandwich bag.

Seal the bag, pushing out the air. Push the chocolate to one of the bottom corners of the bag. Cut off a small tip of the corner and drizzle the chocolate over the rods back and forth to create a zig-zag pattern.

Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or in the refrigerator. After the chocolate has hardened, carefully remove the rods from the wax paper and transfer to a serving platter or an airtight container.

Storage
Store the pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 to 3 weeks.
