Welcome to my new space! To thank you for coming, I've made you a cake. Just kidding. I made that cake 3 years ago, and I'm just now blogging about it. Seems like many of us have a little more time our hands because of this once-in-a-lifetime pandemic . . .
I have been writing this blog very on-and-off for 11 years now. Seems hard to believe. Even though I have gaps in my posts - some that span multiple years - this blog is always on my mind. A constant on my to do list that gets moved further and further down as life gets busier. I still cook and bake and photograph the details, I just don't set aside time to document.
I've come a long way since I began blogging in my tiny Chicago apartment. When I read my first post, I can't help but laugh. I was (relatively) a newlywed, a graduate student, a city dweller. I was busy with lab work, but I also had a lot of free time. Life is certainly different now. I have 3 kiddos who are ages 4, 6, and 8. For some of us moms, life becomes more about our kids' hobbies and less about our own. I am choosing to spend my quarantine time recapturing something that I still care about deeply.
I don't know how many of you here now received my post alert on my old site, but I invite you to follow this new one by subscribing to post alerts. This just means you'll get an email when a new post is added. Please check your spam folder after you subscribe and add my email to your contacts to ensure you never miss a post! I have so many things to share - birthday parties I've thrown for my kids complete with yummy decorated treats, easy weeknight recipes, and even some freezer meals.
Although a constant work-in-progress, I've worked hard to build this site with the reader in mind. I have a section for FAQ on Cake Decorating, as well as on Royal Icing, and also a Shop My Kitchen section where I talk about my tried-and-tried kitchen items that have withstood the test of time.
I truly thank you for visiting my new site, and I hope to see you here again soon!
