Easy Apple-Shaped Cupcakes
These Easy Apple-Shaped Cupcakes are perfect for a Back-to-School treat. Use a boxed cake mix and canned frosting or your favorite homemade recipes. So easy to make!

- Red paper or foil cupcake liners
Ingredients
- 1 box Chocolate cake mix prepared into cupcakes according to package directions
- 1 batch Easy Vanilla Buttercream or canned vanilla frosting
- 3 tablespoons Red sanding sugar
- 22 Tootsie Roll Midgees unwrapped
- 44 Green M&M's or Skittles
Instructions
- Bake the cupcakes according to the package directions. Allow to cool completely.
- Using a small icing spatula, spread a thin layer of buttercream or frosting on top of each cupcake.
- One at a time, hold a cupcake over a plate and sprinkle the sanding sugar over the frosting. The plate will catch the sugar that falls off so you can reuse it on the other cupcakes.
- Place one Tootsie Roll, standing straight up, in the center of each cupcake for the apple stem. Add two green M&M's or Skittles next to the Tootsie Roll to serve as the leaves.
- Store the cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature until ready to serve.
