Homemade Butterscotch Buttercream

This Homemade Butterscotch Buttercream can be used to frost a Butterbeer Cake for a Harry Potter Birthday Party. It can also be used for Butterbeer Macarons.

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons salted butter at room temperature
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup homemade butterscotch sauce see note
  • 8½ ounces powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  • Beat the butter and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer until creamy.

  • Add the butterscotch sauce and beat until well combined.

  • Gradually add powdered sugar. Add vanilla extract and cream.

  • Beat on medium-high speed for 4 minutes until buttercream is smooth.
