This healthier version of double chocolate banana bread contains applesauce in place of butter or oil. A great way to use up those old bananas.

applesauce

vanilla extract

mashed very ripe bananas
about 6 bananas

chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease two 8-inch loaf pans.
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Set aside.
2 cups flour,
1 teaspoon baking soda,
1 teaspoon baking powder,
1 teaspoon salt,
½ cup cocoa powder
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, applesauce, vanilla, and bananas.
2 eggs,
½ cup granulated sugar,
⅔ cup applesauce,
1 teaspoon vanilla extract,
2 cups mashed very ripe bananas
Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. You may reserve some to sprinkle on top of the batter.
1 cup chocolate chips
Bake loaves for 45 - 60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with only a few crumbs attached.
