Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon + 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • additional sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir in chocolate chips. Add whipping cream to flour mixture, stirring just until ingredients are moistened. Turn the mixture out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently until a soft dough forms, about 2 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 2 equal balls, flattened to about 5 or 6-inch circles, and cut each into 6 triangles to make 12 scones.
  • Brush each scone with melted butter and sprinkle with additional sugar. Bake 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.
